Line skippers...

Ever prayed for more Patience? Well if you have you know God will set you up for the test! You can't become more patient without your current patience being put to the test. I try to be very patient, lately it seems like God is growing me in this area.

So, yesterday I go to the post office and jump in line (Which is all the way out to the door) this lady dressed in biker gear walks in a stands in line to the side of me. Do you see where this is going? Everyone is stressed out at the post office anyways, ever noticed how the people who work there are never nice? Just like the DMV, uncle Sam's workers are the same with a few exceptional people. Well the line moves up one person and this lady makes this "box out" move right in front of me, actually bumping me with her shoulder. At that moment I had a choice to make. Now when I was in 9th grade I remember a fellow freshman skipping line in our lunch line right in front of a senior football player, that senior football player grabbed that freshman by the shoulders, picked him up off the ground and moved him back where he belonged. Honestly thats really what I feel like doing when somebody has the nerve to pass me in line. By the way, I HATE waiting in line it really is something that im working on and have become A LOT better about (Ask my wife) But I do still struggle as I have to wait and watch some cashier taking their time not caring that I have stuff to do! So in that very short moment I just smiled and acted as though it didn't happen and actually looked for an opportunity to bless her or make simple conversation.

So I leave the post office and go to Wal-Mart to pick up a couple things for Church, Im in line for self check out and this couple who looked like some kind of Country music roadies with a 24 pk of beer decided they don't like their self check out line and switch over to mine, so they do and jump right in front of me! This is twice in one day, in two tuff environments the post office and wal-mart! So I had another choice and short moment. I wuuu sahed, took a deep breath and just smiled and looked for an opportunity to bless them, speak with them and invite them to Church.

Here's my point, with every test we are give we have an opportunity to seize the moment for everything its worth. God gives us opportunities all the time and usually for me they are at Wal-mart when Garth and Dolly pass me in line with their 24 pack of beer. But nothing is an accident! Especially when the Holy Spirit lives inside of You. So today, be patient (its a choice) and look for those opportunities that God puts right in front of your face. Then act on them! And grow everyday according to the test God gives you.

Have a great day!

  1. Good job Justin - I wish line jumpers would be as courteous. Unfortunately they are not. Someone I know, Michelle, was jumped in a grocery store line and said something to the lady who was afronted that she should say anything and continued cursing her because she had. I was checking out the other day and the lady behind me didn't think I was fast enough finding my card and tried to pick a fight with me. I deflected it with kindness. Difficult to do without the Holy Spirit.
